Terracotta House
ARCHITECT: AUSTIN MAYNARD ARCHITECTS
Terracotta House is a uniquely designed ‘village square’ style home that was built to create a communal, tree-change lifestyle for the owner – all within an inner city postcode. The project came about to meet the need for a multi-generational way of living, with the solution compromising of a renovation to the front existing home and a new home at the rear – with a large communal garden in between. The application of earthy red tiles as wall cladding is just one of the stand out features of this project. Sustainability, beauty, community and budget were some of the big drivers, and achievements, of this project. This home was shortlisted at the 2021 Houses Awards (House Alterations and Addition under 200 square metres), and has been recently featured in Archdaily, Archilovers, Dezeen and Dwell.
